Markus Reitzig, Joachim Henkel, and Christopher Heath have released a new paper that examines the patent troll phenomenon from an academic perspective. In the paper, they analyse why sharks can operate profitably, why trolls are of growing concern to R&D intense manufacturers, how R&D intense manufacturers can forearm themselves against them, and which questions policy makers need to address.
